Mylene Farmer was born on September, 12, 1961 in the Canadian city of Montreal. However in Canada she lived not for long as her parents upon termination of the working contract in 1969 have moved to Paris. Her first desire was to become an actress (and it is still strong), therefore she has decided to receive corresponding education. Those years she has met Laurent Boutonnat - the person who for a long time became her creative satellite and has strongly affected career of Mylene in the world of music. 
When in far 1984 Mylene in 23 years old has written down the first song УMom is not rightФ (Maman A Tort) with help of Laurent Boutonnat (music) and Jeremy Dahan (words), was simply unimaginable, as her career for such short time will develop up to the status of the French superstar.
Approximately during same time she has replaced Gaultier's true surname (Gauthier) on Farmer. Whether this decision was accepted only to her or under influence of Laurent. It is not clear, however it is considered to be, that this surname is taken by her in honour of the American actress of 30th years Frensis Farmer (Frances Farmer) which submitted the big hopes, but because of predilection for alcohol has carried out the most part of 40th years in a psychiatric clinic. 
The big break, undoubtedly, has come in 1985-87, when Mylene has replaced sound recording company RCA on Polydor and the Libertine and Tristana, and also the first album Ashes of the Moon (Cendres De Lune) has released singles. During same time Mylene has recoloured the from a birth brown hair in red - as at mother. Union of Laurent and Mylene became firm, and soon angelic MyleneТs voice together with compositions and director's talents of Laurent have started to win attention of the French public.However it was only the beginning... 
Her success has even more become stronger with releasing of Sans Contrefacon and Pourvu Qu'Elles Soient Douces / Libertine II from album Ainsi Soit Je... together with amazing videoclips. Gold disks and awards have followed, the press has started talking about her.
Though Mylene always approved, that to her interview is unpleasant to give, at the end of 80 her occurrences on TV became enough regular. However it was soon found out, that "Farmermania" weighs her, and the solitude began to not suffice her extremely, therefore after lines of concerts in 1989 her occurrence began less often. 
The ambassador concerning short absence Mylene has returned to 1991 with hit album L'Autre. It has revealed new qualities of Mylene. 50/50 dancing songs and slow mixes have allowed Mylene to show, as far as her vocal talent became strong. Hit Desenchantee has helped Mylene to get admirers and in other, not French-speaking countries.
As well as in a case with the previous album, 4 singles have been released, last of which - Beyond My Control - has left at the end of 1992. Following single Que Mon Couer Lache has left with the purpose to advance forward an album of compilations Dance Remixes, but then in the beginning of 1993 Mylene has again disappeared from eyes of public. 
This absence, however, has not been caused by preparation of a new album, and spoke work above huge and, probably, too arrogant project - Giorgino. Giorgino the film-industries were expected step Mylene and Laurent aside. It was really big project, and though the press has published articles about film in January, 1994, three-hour prime-minister has taken place only in October, 1994. Taken off in English, film, nevertheless, was completely in spirit of the French cinema. Such film never could appear in Hollywood. Many at viewing compared it to a clip "Disappointment". Criticism stated film the mixed estimation, and as many other films with participation of musicians, it has been quickly forgotten. However there has come time to come back in studio of a sound recording. There has come time to change... 
After almost three-year break Mylene at last has presented new album Anamorphosee

to the patient admirers. Music has changed extremely strongly, she began in many respects more alive due to Jeff Dalgrena's guitar (Jeff Dahlgren). MyleneТs voice also has changed, that it is possible to relate on the account of her stay in Los Angeles for the last few years. The majority of musical compositions has been still written by Laurent, that has once again shown, as far as are great his composition abilities - to compare a storm of fate in an album "Changed" with quiet soundtrack to film "Djorgino" enough.
In the first some weeks from the moment of release at the end of 1995 the new album was on sale on 40 thousand copies day, evidently showing, that Mylene still was one of the most popular singers of France. The album has received good estimations from the majority of musical magazines. Mylene has returned, strong as never!  The first single which has been released from a new album, became XXL. The videoclip accompanying it, as well as music, has shown, as far as changes are deep. The clip has been taken off black-and-white, and as the director instead of Laurent has acted Marcus Nispel. The chords of powerful fate it has thundered on screens of musical channels at the end of 1995. Soon the left second clip Instant X (L'Instant X) also has been taken off by Marcus Nispel. After this a single at last was announced so for a long time expected concert round of 1996. Having begun in Toulon, tour should pass across all France, and also in Belgium and Switzerland. It is no wonder,  that concerts also were opposite to round of 1989. Representation was big, loud and very American. With the help of group of the American musicians and dancers Mylene has shown the audience completely other side of her person - much happier, smiling and cheerful. At this time third single California together with a videoclip has released. The director of it was Abel Ferrara. The plot was much more difficult, than at previous two. Mylene again was at top of the world, but behind a corner the misfortune was concealed...  On June, 15, 1996 during a concert in Lyons Mylene has fallen in the end of songs XXL, thrown the audience into the confusion. Admirers patiently expected explanations happened. Sad news became that Mylene has broken a wrist, and the rest of tour will be cancelled. Mylene has been ruthlessly dumped from top of the world. But, as it is sing in a song УTo fall 7 times...Ф (Tomber 7 Fois...), Mylene should return. The cancelled concerts have been transferred for December, 1996, giving people one more chance to see her alive this year. During same time the fourth single As to me A bit too (Comme J'Al Mal) has released. 
 Soon after end of tour in the beginning of 1997 hearings about a possible releasing of a disk with a concert of 1996 began to filter. These hearings have in part proved to be true with releasing of single Rever containing the concert version songs. The following single which has been released in May, 1997 became strange enough duet with Khaled. It was singing old Michel Polnareff's songs La Poupee Qui Fait Non. At once after it for maintenance of fans in a trance a plenty of materials has been released, switching two videoassembly, the videoversion of a concert of 1996 and, certainly, by double CD with record of a concert!
1999 was marked by releasing completely tremendous and not similar to all other MyleneТs albums Innamoramento, two new videoclips - L'Ame-Stram-Gram and Je Te Rends Ton Amour have been taken off and corresponding singles are released. Mysterious song Effets Secondaires. On September, 21 has appeared began new concert round Mylenium Tour and in autumn Mylene has visited Russia.. From the same disk 3 more singles have been released and corresponding clips - Souviens-Toi Du Jour, Optimistique-Moi and Innamoramento are taken off.
In the summer of 2000 Mylene has opened to the world young and talented singer Alizee. Her first song, which text has been written Mylene Farmer, and music Laurent Boutonnat, long time kept on the first lines of charts of many European countries.
In November 2001 Mylene releases the eighth album of the best songs "Les Mots", which also contained 3 new songs - Les Mots (with Seal), C'est Une Belle Journee, Pardonne-Moi.In 2003 Mylene has been nominated on the NRJ Music Awards 2003 and has won it in fourth time as the best French singer.
